WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE SOCCER POLL?

The purpose of the PSCA soccer poll is to generate interest and discussion for soccer at the state level.

To recognize schools with outstanding soccer programs.

To encourage competition of top teams from around the state.
HOW ARE TEAMS CHOSEN FOR THE POLL EACH WEEK?
Coaches from around the state provide their opinion on teams in their region to the committee chair for each poll.
HOW DOES THE COMMITTEE CHAIR(S) DECIDE ON THE TOP TEN TEAMS AND HONORABLE MENTION?
Committee chairs develop the top ten and honorable mention based on the opinions of the coaches around the state, strength of schedule of any recommended teams and the strength of the region a team plays in.
WHO ARE THE COACHES THAT VOTE AND HOW ARE THOSE COACHES CHOSEN?
The coaches who vote are Pennsylvania coaches who want to help generate interest and discussion in the sport of soccer around the state. Any coach who is a PSCA member that would like to provide their opinion for a particular poll may do so by contacting each poll’s committee chair.
OVER WHAT PERIOD OF TIME IS EACH POLL RUN?
The polls begin after the first full week of play, typically the Sunday after Labor Day for the Fall polls and the first Sunday in April for the Spring poll. The final poll will be the Sunday before district play begins.
HOW IS THE POLL DEVELOPED EACH WEEK?
The committee chairs compile their information either Saturday night or Sunday morning and then send the weekly poll to the webmaster. Every effort is made to include the results of Saturday games. The webmaster sends the poll to PSCA officers and league reps as well as newspapers around the state. Contact your local sports editor.
